Still repeatedly swiping that card
blaming the worn magnetic strip
Never once has it occurred to you

Rogue
When the past comes knocking...
This is about a (real life) monster I have written about in other pieces that destroyed both myself and my life. And yet... Even now on occasion, due to circumstances, I have to have dealings with him.

Well done! I love the analogy between bank accounts and relationships. I also love that another equally fair reading could be opportunities lost for any of a number of reasons. The self-delusion and denial are well expressed in such a concise and tight piece.
A pleasure to read this.

Clever analogy. You captured a complex relationship that is lingering past an expiry date with economy and finesse. I loved the brevity of it.

Very short and to the point

True, that would be a whole other piece. More than likely the size of War and Peace too.

I like this. It was the first thing I read when I joined. I meant to review it at the time. Good metaphor.

Thank you, Ian. I appreciate you both reading and remembering it. :)
So many levels to fit so many perceptions. And even more when you take into account life experience.

Thank you, Steve for such a wonderful review. I truly appreciate that. :)
Such a concise write, and yet so absolutely relatable and powerful. Sometimes people just can't help themselves...they keep "swiping that card", and attempting to weasel their way back into our good graces. I have had a few relationships/friendships such as this...and sadly, I have closed, reopened and closed accounts multiple times--metaphorically speaking. Well done and well thought out.

Thank you R&B.
Ohhhhhh. I'm a bit slow on the uptake. Thought it was about a poor money manager at first. Now I get it. Yeah, don't even expose your slot to that one.

Sam, I always love your reviews. :)
Going back to use what we thought we had and should have left. Muliple layers in such concise writing. I am envious that you can do this.
