Styx

A Poem by Anna

There's something in that darkness
something passing through its depths;
something possessed of fractured light
something brimming its blistered lips.
I know it's coming down that evening;
something squirming in musty crypts
something clammy, it's laid up-waking;
something groaning at twilight ships.
What is this thing? What are you-
something bobbing in sea foam blips
something cutting off the breath;
something blacked out of the scripts.

There's something in that darkness
that I cannot doubt exists.

If you seek the darkness, the darkness will find us.
"There's something in that darkness
that I cannot doubt exists. "
Today I am old and the darkness don't want the old men. The above lines are true. Easy to know safety in the dark things. Thank you dear Anna for sharing the excellent poetry.

I think the poem describes a mental process. The darkness is the subconscious mind, and something quite grim is emerging from it. It may be depression, which is worse than any horror movie.
