In the Bradford Grove

In the Bradford Grove

A Poem by Anna

Head full of water

It leaked from your eyes

Like honeypots

Overflowing

In the noonday sun.

Give me dandelions

The napkin in your

Shirt pocket

Or the dirt from

Your garden

In my hands.

Give me the acorn

You found by the stream

Where heather grew

When you were small

And the cap

That has fallen off.

Give me peaches

Or their pits

And the snails

That live

In the dewy grove.

I am satisfied

Even

If you come

Empty-handed

And have no

lint to give.
