Hollyhock

Hollyhock

A Poem by Anna

If you then are my shadow,
if you shy your eyes, bring me roses...
The hollyhock might stay.

If you give me halves in morn,
if you spend time in the moonlight,
if you then are still full of day...

If you sing like I like you to,
if you garden, water me with the grass,
if you weave my silver and stay...

The hollyhock won't go away.

If you comb my hair in the mist,
if you are shining, maybe laughing,
if you then are golden all the way...

If you happened to love little flowers,
if you are gentle with the snakes,
if you find joy in the scent of Hollyhock...
It will seldom stay.
