Lyrics: There Was a Time

I'm writing this for a play about the Passion of the Christ, and it's supposed to be from Judas's point of view after the Crucifixion (or after the sentencing).

There was a time when I was a man

I was kind, I was loved by them

There was a time when my soul felt free

But now darkness has come over me

He was divine, had loved with no end

The honor was mine to call Him my friend

There was a time when He believed in me

But I had failed and for what? Tainted money

What have I done?

What will I do?

Am I worthy to ask

forgiveness from you-?

No

It cannot be

Even I can't ask forgiveness

From me

There was a time

When I was a man

But now I

Must put that to an end-

If I can't seek forgiveness

If I can't find the light

Tell me what is the purpose

Of living this life?

I'm sorry

For I have sinned

But from now on

I'll never sin

Again-

In case you didn't see, this is a song I wrote for a play about the Passion of the Christ (Jesus's death) from Judas's point of view. If you're not Christian, I hope you'll still critique in an entirely artistic way.

nicely done, I had it flowing like a folk song in my head, but thats just me, refreshing lyrics that are not the typical gloom and doom boy rues girl.

Oh, thank you. The reason it's from Judas's PoV is because I'm portraying him in my church's Passion Play, and he didn't have any songs, so I thought I would try and write one for next year. :)
