Knight Errant

Knight Errant

A Poem by Rossen
"

400 year old story

"

Jousting windmills thrusting great beasts

Charging into fire for her release

Taking it to them, whom he cannot see

He Is brandishing the sword of chivalry

Living the words he so deeply became

Fighting for love honor and his good name

She is the unreachable mirage to be seen

His longing for her.. the impossible dream

He sees her so perfect so above the fray

He sings to her,  how she will love him someday

Stripped of his armor he is forced to wait

Held for the inquisition, and his new fate

Reminded of his delusions of grandeur and such

Chivalry is gone now... no more longing for her touch

No more to prove...nothing to thrust

She is there at his bedside... lost from within

Where is my  knight Errant?

I thought it was well written! It's romantic and beautiful, like a fairy tale story! Excellent job!!

Great story poem, Rossen -- really one of your best poems so far. If this is for a contest, I expect you have a very good shot at winning.

The knight and his fair lady...Romance at its best... I dont think that romance is gone in current days & time...its there just hidden, i believe that if anything chivalry no longer exists..great write!

he came to his senses , and in turn , in exchange for sanity , fell into depression ...

( the classic by ceravantes is one of my most favorite )

come rocinante , time to ride ..

Perfect rhyming and you tell the story from her perspective extremely emotionally and clearly. No-one can doubt it is her speaking as you have 'hidden' your voice behind hers which takes real skill. (Maybe finish it with a question mark?)

very nice!! romance isn't dead indeed! and So What beat me to the Quixano! darn you!! haha very well constructed! chivalry is indeed best kept for the books if taken in the literal sense... delusions of grandeur for sure - quests to be carried out!! wonderful play on the story!

reads like a vision of days gone by
no indecision in this knights eye
interesting reflections towards the end
a questioning of causes and an apparition...?

sweet piece
