Jousting windmills thrusting great beasts

Charging into fire for her release

Taking it to them, whom he cannot see

He Is brandishing the sword of chivalry

Living the words he so deeply became

Fighting for love honor and his good name

She is the unreachable mirage to be seen

His longing for her.. the impossible dream

He sees her so perfect so above the fray

He sings to her,  how she will love him someday

Stripped of his armer he is forced to wait

Held for the inquisition, and his new fate

Reminded of his delusions of grandeur and such

Chivalry is gone now... no more longing for her touch

She is there at his bedside... lost from within

Where is my errant knight?

Where indeed. A fitting poem I think, she is at his bedtime because in the end we are human. You shall be missed.

This is really gorgeous, I can see the colorful banners flapping in the wind on some old castle out there where Rapunzel awaits to let down her hair. where indeed have all the flowers gone?

Loved it!
Look there, Sancho Panza, my friend, and see those thirty or so wild giants, with whom I intend to do battle and kill each and all of them, so with their stolen booty we can begin to enrich ourselves. This is nobel, righteous warfare, for it is wonderfully useful to God to have such an evil race wiped from the face of the earth."
"What giants?" Asked Sancho Panza.
"The ones you can see over there," answered his master, "with the huge arms, some of which are very nearly two leagues long."
"Now look, your grace," said Sancho, "what you see over there aren't giants, but windmills, and what seems to be arms are just their sails, that go around in the wind and turn the millstone."
"Obviously," replied Don Quijote, "you don't know much about adventures.”

A beautiful fairytale with your not so typical happily ever after. You write from a place deeper than most. I can feel the emotion in your words. It is lovely.

now she has him at her bedside, he has won her over...but something is lost, something is not what she thought it would be...he was her hero in battle...but then the illusion is broken...

i really like how you put this story together.

sometimes we need something to prove...when there is nothing left to prove, there is often disappointment.

Rossen, You had me at jousting...the medieval time is my absolute favorite history to study, and I love all things jousting and horses...I don't know who jousted windmills, or who exactly is the Errant Knight, but this one is absolutely my favorite poem. Thank you for this gift for my library, Sir Rossen!

Wonderful poem .. a knight in shining armor longing for his mate.
Singing to her.. I like that line.. no one does that like in movies now do they?
Sing beneath the lady's window? The flow is so smooth like a river of dreams flowing to the sea..and she to his heart. Wonderful poem..
