My Sweet Nightingale

My Sweet Nightingale

A Poem by Rossen
"

~ plain old fashion serenade ~

"

Standing outside your window, I wait to gather my courage
I have come to take you into my arms and kiss you madly
Only you do not know me, you never even gazed into my eyes
Gathering the will, I pick up the gravel at my boot, three small stones
ever so lightly I toss the first stone...

 .............................................................................................  . Tink~

With my heart in my hands
I stare past moving shadow
on your softly flowing  sheers ~

A small grunt kicks out of my parched wind pipe , I am about to...

O wait! the light is out!

Standing behind your big beautiful tree, I think, I am going home..yes home
Food comfort and bed, all alone at home totally alone...

................................................................................................. . Tink~

Match strike glowing through your bed chamber curtain,
Sustained flame.. A candle burning  {Hope...

I make ready to sing my own ballad to my one and only Nightingale
falling on one knee I take a deep breath... I feel a panic attack marching In my chest.
My arm throbbing like a.... WAIT SOME ONE IS ...

O just your cat bounding from this new friend of mine, your tree I rest behind
Laying on my back I look into the clearest night sky, my pain slowly subsides
I can feel the sharp edge of the third stone still lightly clinched in my right palm...

................................................................................................... . Tink~

Holding the only page of my love song in the bright moon light I sing softy
The warm and gentile breeze carries my crackling voice to your open window
My will flushes out a beautiful verse so pure your cat circles my leg with
smooth grace... I fall on my last knee and sing this night away...

.........................................................................................................................

In my imagination I wanted, I longed and needed you to...
be more then a shadow on this dinged curtain of mine,
This tree I have known since I was a small boy.
Where my cat Nightingale crouches and waits
for me to come home.
I fold this page of my song into a airplane
and float it into this mirror ............ . Tink~

The last verse of this says much about the poem.
The last line "I fold the page of my song into a airplane
and float it into this mirror...-Tink~" makes me feel as if the
singer of the song has been imagining this ... he knows the tree
and his cat and is looking into his own dinged curtain and mirror..
If any of this makes sense.

The poem is beautiful.. love the images and sounds ... it is an 'alive' poem..
Love it Rossen.

I liked it!!!! In fact, I found it exceptional. Great imagery, story-line was fab! I felt this deep inside, where it counts and that to me is a winner for sure.

Huggers to ya

I can definitely envision standing under that window with the moon setting the mood... nice display of scenery and emotions.
