O Captain, Everyone's Captain

O Captain, Everyone's Captain

A Poem by =
"

This one is a repost on this website, it's the only poem from my old account that I wanted to carry over.

"
O captain! My captain?
His captain? Her captain?

You're a captain of many,
You know what that means?

Their leader, his friend,
Her lover, my end?

How will you cope, helping them all?
How will you cope, before you cripple and fall?

O captain, I'm my own captain,
But for me, who do you send?

O captain, no captain?
A captain, with no friend,

O captain, what have you done?
You wanted the masses,
Yet you could handle none.

Sad and honest words.
O captain, what have you done?
"You wanted the masses,
Yet you could handle none."
Some people leave us too soon. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

This is really interesting, and I agree with William, the last line is really strong. Overall, I really liked this poem. Nice job

I like this poem. You can feel the torment of the captain. He or she is responsible for others and friendless. The pressure of having others look to you for answers is often tiring.

Well done.

I loved the last line; it really struck me. Overall, this poem had a smooth flow and rhyme scheme. Was this inspired by Walt Whitman's poem?

I can tell. I love it when someone else puts a spin on another person's work. Good job.
