Underlying Thought.

Underlying Thought.

A Poem by =

It was on my way home,
That you broke my heart.
As for once I felt more than lust,
I finally felt a need for you.

As the street lead, empty,
I realised what you'd become,
And that as I struggle to fight it,
I could never change my heart.

I took a left turn, the rain pouring,
I heard your voice in my head,
Reminding me of what I needed,
And something I'd never gain.

And as I walked on,
I realised you'd become my mind.
You were worse than being my world,
You were an underlying thought.

Oh, I really like this piece. It speaks to all of us who have experienced what you are describing. You make it so real with the metaphor of walking the streets. Beautiful.

Ah, thank you so much!
Hi Rob

MMM I have to agree with H.L. Cerveise and Nessly's reviews of this lovely poem.
I found a honest, crisp, true, unique, forlorn, but strong, voice behind this poem. Such a nice voice you have. I have subscribed.
Keep up the good work.

Thank you for your review!
I love this poem. The moment you learn that a lover has so overwhelmed your mind and your heart it is too late to do anything about it. It is even worse when it is not a returned love, "something I'd never gain." The process of those thoughts being done in the metaphor of traveling through the streets was great. Thank you.

Well done.
