Autumn siege

Autumn siege

A Poem by Rudi J.P. Lejaeghere
"

A siege of rain, leaves that fall and chillliness.

"

A blanket full of hues of grey

glides hazy in quiet past

sad clouds of fall that travel

sign the chilliness of the day

rain lays itself so damp and drizzly

in squalls of tempered grief

on tired earth that’s catching fire

in the eve with fallen leaves

the night unpacks in marbles

time ticks away with hail

and cold wrapped up in rime

gives us autumn siege on sale.

This feels like a fusion of Robert Frost and John Donne's metaphysical poetry, but of course, with Rudi's magical touch! The personification of seemingly 'mundane' nature objects..such as rain, and the "tired earth" marvelously brings to us, the readers, the beauty of the scene, within all of its tragedy simultaneously.
Your differing rhyme scheme was rather unorthodox as well, but it is a lovely distraction. You are a brilliant writer, Rudi. I'm glad and honoured to know you!

I see the merchants packing up all their belongings
Preparing for the winter
Mother nature does some of that packing too

Thank you, FT, for reading and reviewing. Autumn makes colorful words. :) Rudi
The orchestration of your words are like leaves falling aimlessly to the ground. What a glorious homage you've paid to Autumn, Rudi!

Rudi ... you really impressed me with this . There's someone that writes and loves nature . I thought she's the only one that could write about nature until I saw your piece . Truly amazing .
