Morning sound

I get up every morning and it's going to be a great day. You never know when it's going to be over so I refuse to have a bad day. Paul Henderson

I hear the morning

in the creaking of the bed

a cough, a yawn

the shuffle of slippers

in the hall

 

the coffee is boiling

from far away

with intervals it reaches

my consciousness

 

while outside the traffic

breaks the silence

the buzzing

of child voices

in my ear

 

the meowing

of two hungry cats

at the back door

and the softly calling

at the bottom of the stairway

 

breakfast is ready.

Thank you so much. My voice is a bit rusty, but a while ago (some years) I was a tenor in a church choir for seven years in a row. I couldn't combine it with my work so I've stopped, but I always have loved singing. My father was a musician, my brother too and we have sung a lot at home when I was young(er) :) Rudi
