between the ground and trees

between the ground and trees

A Poem by S.R.Parker
"

something I wrote in May of 2008

"

between the ground and the trees

between the ground and the trees
come colors that please
some red, some white, pink and yellows
all with life for them and wonderful smells for others

between the ground and the trees
they are things of beauty
an attraction of substance to that which know
yet for most, just a blur in the breeze

between the ground and the trees
some are soft and gentle
others are like snarling dragons
with teeth of thorns for leaves

between the ground and the trees
there is life and death
it's right there, just look
take a moment, hold someone's hand

between the ground and the trees
for some it's a home
for others a place to work
for god, a place to brush and be pleased

between the ground and the trees
it is where we persist
don't tarnish it with ugly
let it exist

I really enjoyed this piece, and I love how you paired them with the lovely pictures. I think the pictures really helped this piece. Without them, I worry that the poem would be a jumble of words. I really enjoyed how you described nature, and how people are tarnishing it, just by being. Overall, I enjoyed this piece, and the pictures were a saving grace!

Good. The repetition worked wonders. The choice of words was awesome. Its simple, yet powerful.
