Now We Build

Now We Build

A Story by C.N.Moore

So deserted…desolate, I’ve never seen such vast emptiness. Ive seen chaosdestruction, I’ve even seen death; but this?  I’ve never seen anything quite like this.  There, right in front of me, that was the shop I got my first haircut at, and there just… well, it wasjust across the street; that was the cafe we would have lunch at once a week.  And just up the way, yes right up there… there was the giant clock tower that overlooked the entire town.  I remember sneaking in and climbing the stairs to the top, just looking outwatching the daily commotion as it hurried along.  Some days I would spend hours up there, now its gone… merely rubble, ashand debris.  What could have happened?… It hasn’t been so long since my last visit… and last time I was here it was so busy, so much was happening… my precious imagination what has happened to you? Where did you go? Where did I go?  Did I abandon you for so long that reality erased all we made together?  Well i’m back, its me, i’m here for good this time and we have a lot of work to do, a lot of lost time to make up for, lets start with this pebble, yes this one here… now we build.

I felt as if I were with you, and you took my hand guiding me, showing me everything as we walked through an old memory. I like the personification here. If you ever do decide to leave again, I hope I can come with you again to find your way back.
