UNTITLED

A Poem by STAND.STILL

Never knew how far I had to fall
Just to think, I lost it all
My faith was true,
So dear to you
You let me down
Drown
In the tears I’ve wept for years

Blinding me from reality
Protected from brutality
Exposed my originality
Along with my congeniality
Which actually, sadly,
Set me up for mistrust

I visited your home constantly
Scattered throughout the world abundantly,
Then suddenly, unexpectedly,
You appeared, and to my ears… not a cheer
To my joyful ears which seared a not sincere welcome

But a cruel, slightly brutal strike to my heart
That you did not exist, not at all
T’was all a lie, why, abide but what I cannot see
But based on a book, we speak, week, by week to
Seek and dig deep… I was foolish

I have opened my eyes
To my surprise, I cannot wish for what I want...
Haunt me, you may for today I shall say not
“Hooray” to this array of people, or man who
Persuades for us to believe in this ray of light
In which we pray

I have opened my eyes, I see the light.
It is reality I cannot fight.
