AGE OF PLENTY

AGE OF PLENTY

A Poem by STRAND
"

The H.M.S. Kardashian is still sailing strong! It seems like just yesterday we were watching her "maiden voyage" with tears in our eyes. Where's a predator drone when you really need one?

"

Sure, sure, sure…

they’re shaped like humans " but don’t be fooled.

Glory-hole heroes cum aristocracy.

Undefeated records scrawled on bathroom stalls.

Empty vessels

Empty rituals

Galas flowing seamlessly:

glowing screen to glowing screen,

and a language all their own:

the unceasing popping of corks.

While we’re making out with roadkill,

raping the elderly " just to survive,

they’re wiping each other’s mouths.

While we’re eating the family pet,

savoring dust particles, ignoring sores,

they’re airbrushed, scrubbed, no seals clubbed.

Sometimes you catch them grinning, just wide enough,

then everything’s malformed ears and eyes askew.

A generation congealed just for spectacle.

Yes, yes, yes…I know it’s un-American,

but I like to dream of burning yachts.

Where the founding mothers of harlotry

are digested, forgotten " finally offline.

I don't see that which you speak of in your writing. You ought to practice what you preach. This is lacking.
