Breaking Glass

Breaking Glass

A Poem by Sam
"

I watched it break.

"

The glass hits the ground,
It slipped from his grasp as if it
Were happiness,
We do not hear the sound.

It smashes into a thousand tiny pieces
Like a promise
Spoken in vein assurance.
The liquid slithers
As if it were blood from a wound,
Inch by inch it conquers all,
It crawls over their shoes
And spreads like Cancer
Accross the floor.

They all retreat
The shards are confiscated,
Some are missed,
Will they leer at passers by like hunky hooligans?
Or sit pretty and harmless like flowers in a field?

That is the beauty of glass,
Like love,
It can't be seen, but it's always there,
Break it and the damage is done.
