Sugar Rush

Sugar Rush

A Poem by Sam

What have I done?
The can of worms
That is my heart
Has been opened
And torn apart.

You want that 'drive thru' love,
Go to the next window
Recieve everything in a tidy little bag
I am not food to go,
This is the last time I let someone know.
So bask in the warm after glow
If you want
I'll be your hoe.

So kiss me one last time
Be mine
Put the lid back on my heart
When you're done
Cos me and you, I won't pursue.
You are a tart,
But somehow a work of art.

I have a sweet tooth
For sickly boys like you
Sugar rush you make me high
So high I could die
Don't blush, its just a crush.

I know

All you'll do is rot my teeth
But I won't brush in a rush,
The taste of you is sublime
Forbidden fruit, I'm wasting my time.

i love the metaphor and the way you tell yourself throughout that it's wrong with an underlying 'but it feels so good'

fav lines were about the fast food.. creative.

hmm i can relate. i've had those purely 'i know we can never be but here we are again together' kind of relationships. the 'sugar rush' is irresistible. the sex, the companionship, our own loneliness keeps us coming back for more. like an addiction, bad for us, might even hurt us in the end, yet we just can't stop. i like this one. well written & i love the imagery.

I don't believe I"ve ever said this in a review of your work before. But, I saw myself. Why do we let ourselves in for the sweet, without substance kind of relationship. Knowing there's no future.

Truth be told, I'm an old married woman with lots of children running around the house. But I still felt this.
