Accordion Days

Accordion Days

A Poem by Sam Stanhope
"

Part of "The Winter Collection."

"

Under these Winter days are cold

Snow and frost gain bitter hold

For in the morning ground, cracks, breaks

Beneath my bare feet, more they can't take

Oh! Wind, she doth blow and

Low! the wind she blows

Oh! Darkness she grows and

Low! Darkness grows

Under the bows of the trees

Now dead and bare without leaf

We strap our hearts to the bark

Let them wither with grief

Then at the dawn, they will mourn

They will shiver and weep

Oh! Cold winds blow and

Oh! Darkness grows

And in the harbour, the child of our

Past days fades away

Sat on the sea wall, he sings while

Accordion plays

And now I sing of those

Accordion days

Oh! Wind, she blows and

Low! Wind doth blow and

Oh! Darkness grows and

Low! Darkness grows
