Sleep

oh lovely sleep... take me away... make me forget all the days trouble..... take this pain from me... give me a break for the hurt..... just for a while.... just so i am strong enough for the troubles of tomorrow.... caress me in your warm embrass..... let me become a small child, and you , a mother protecting her young.... give me sweet dreams of love, trust and happiness... since i no longer see those in my gray, dead little life... fight away the anger, the sadness, the hurt i hold so dear..... forget the scars, the lies, the past.... i now i have done you wrong.... ive been robbed of you for so long.... pushed away by the perils and lies.....

I wouldn't call it a poem as is, but instead a prose piece, which is like halfway between a poem and a short story if that makes sense. I agree that the story about only getting peace when sleeping is one that this piece seems to cause you to understand and empathize with the narrator about, well worth reading.

it really helps to get into the mind of this girl who is suffering and in despair by herself. her only reprieve is in her sleep. she finally realizes that she has foresaken her mother by turning away from her, shutting her out and lying to her. this is something the narrator had to get out to feel somewhat better. great piece.
