Maximum Rage

Maximum Rage

A Poem by Sandra Swine
"

a political anthem for those stuck in "the lower class"

"

Are these our daily wages? workin ourselves to the bone.
Pushin yourself until its time to go home.
the families sufferin' - not enough hours in the day.

By the time you get home you just gotta hit the hay.

I don't want a latchkey kid- just stability for her- want her better than me.
but things are never so easy.
I dropped outta school so now I'm stuck flippin pizza's.
Gotta bunch a college tools, and I'm workin underneath them.
Don't want this for my girl so I am bound to keep reachin'.
im aiming for the stars and im bound to keep reachin'

this minimum wage has turned to maximum rage.
Cause we simply have to take what we can get.
scraps are thrown from the stage,
to those stuck in the cage known only by the minimum wage.

How can we rise above?  When we get stuck so low?
There's always a bigger fish, waiting to swallow us whole.
So how do you rise above? When it's you played for the fool.

This minimum wage has turned to maximum rage.
Cause we simply have to take what we can get.
scraps are thrown from the stage,
to those stuck in the cage known only by the minimum wage.

I know there's something waiting out there for me.
I'm always on the hunt and I've always got a dream.
Flippin pizza's today but tomorrow its the world.
I just wanna do right by my little baby girl.

This minimum wage has turned to maximum rage.
Cause we simply have to take what we can get.
Scraps are thrown from the stage,
to those stuck in the cage known only by the minimum wage.

How can we rise above?  When we get stuck so low?
We must rise above and never get stuck below.

I'm aiming for the stars and I'm gonna keep reachin'.
aiming for the stars and ya know im still reachin'
My arms are kinda sore but I'm gonna keep reaching.
