A Poem by Alexandria Reece
"

frozen, a lament

"

Where snow falls silent through the trees,
Frosty gusts freeze all the leaves,
Branches bow with icicle,
It's there you'll know my heart.

When cold winds tear through solemn pass,
And seas form into walls of glass,
The shores a'spark with icy dust,
It's there you'll know my heart.

About the dead trees frozen, bowed,
Beneath the dire sweeping cloud,
A harsh grey sinking through the weeks,
It's there you'll know my heart.

In hopeless fits of hailstorms,
And ice-lain mouths of maelstroms,
Where water freezing breaks the wood,
Certainly, there you'll know my heart.

A death wish caught in frozen bowers,
A frosty field that yields no flow'rs,
And as the tears freeze to my face,
It's here you'll know my heart!

And unlike Robert Frost who left,
And later silent riding wept,
I'll lie down in this welcoming snow,
For then you'll know my heart.

Emo, but honestly how I feel at times. I wrote this when I was 20, in class with my favourite professor thinking on unfortunate situations.

emo? really? but what is poetry without it? quite flat, i'd say.

your imagery is remarkably salient ~ very effective at reducing body temperature to zero! "And seas form into walls of glass," gorgeous!

your repetitive refrain is masterful in bringing the focus ever and again on the state of your heart. beautifully crafted verse with rhyming worthy of kudos. well done!

simply stunning. it flows wonderfully, yet retains a quiet unrest. very much enjoyed the Roibert Frost reference and in particular the line, When cold winds tear through solemn pass. Well done :)

There's nothing like snow and frozen trees to set a scene. The last two stanzas are excellent. Nice flow throughout the whole poem.

Sorry about the condition of your
heart. I think that it will thaw some
time in the future when a very
warm hearted individual touches you
and all your world becomes the Spring.

Very nice poem, very expressive and
well written.
