Drops...

Drops...

A Poem by Sanjeeta Sharma Pokharel "Hridayaninadini"

And after that crowd,
I grabbed my umbrella-
And my solitude-
Took the narrow lane!
Gazed at the sky-
The monsoon clouds-
And loneliness!
Perfect!
Pearls from the broken necklace-
It rained…

Alone, I thought I was-
Then I harked!
I could hear them talk-
As loud as they could-
In that rhythmic tone-
One shouted and the other followed!
Eavesdropped, I-
For what they could be talking?
About their journey!

The clattered rhythm again…
Guessed, I-
About their journey, must be-
From the puddle to the pond-
Meandering through the rivulet-
To the river-
And levitating to the mightiness-
They chattered loud-
Felt, I
they gloated their salvation!
Levitated to the mighty blue and again-
Reached to the earth-
They belonged to!

I could sense their happiness-
As they gently slid down to the earth-
And disappeared on her arms-
Thin clouds now-
I could only hear a few of them-
They have met their destiny-
And will be back again-
Those drops of rain...

An old friend. What I like here is the thoughtful line length, love L2 in V4, the clever use of the article.
A fine poem.

Thank you :) Keep inspiring
awesome read. The world is a place of wisdom and abrupt silliness. The journey, however, is the focus.

Thank you, Gaurav.
Symbolically, the drops are us. A rather Hindu take, I think, with the last verse hinting of reincarnation. Nicely done.
