Heart Of The Sea

Heart Of The Sea

A Poem by Sunflower/Sara Kendrick
"

Sonnet

"

Dark night cool waters beckon love come forth

As its lapping echoes from shore to shore

Drawing waves kiss the sand and beg for more

Come, come love, listen intently thenceforth

Black waters viewed 'pon a cloudly blue night

Seagulls, pelicans have flown away home

Ocean's waves offer up varied honeycomb

Lovers have kissed again and taken flight

The heart of the sea's depths offers repose

Enticing addulation 'pon the waves

Short visits somehow many hearts enslave

Come again as waves stir evening primrose

The heart of the sea beckons juxtapose

Melancoly spirit thoughts now oppose

Excellent.
Dark is the heart of the cosmos that beckon us. Racing waves of solar energy. The ocean ripples with moon's reflections. I wish to drown in the yellow orange hydrogen furnace. I wish to drown in the shine brine the reflect the same shade as my hazel eyes. I wish to drown in love, in awe of all the wonder this reality has to offer. Let it swallow my poetic soul, leaving only a lite littering of poetry in my wake, and I will die a contented fool.

A beautiful sonnet...The poem has a great rhyming pattern and draws such a stunning picture of the sea in the reader's mind. The first verse itself just took my breath away! It was a pleasure to read.

Your lovely poem underlines our traditional fascination with the Sea and its surroundings.
I love the way you chose to rhyme certain words as well.
Thanks for bringing us closer to the beach. (we don't have one here in Dallas, ha_

A lovely sonnet.
The wording is formal and gives me a Victorian sort of elegance in my imaginations.

I enjoyed the rhyme scheme in this poem. I read it out loud for the full effect. There is something magical about the sea and the shoreline. A melancholy heart soon finds joy in this surrounding. Lovely write here. Lydi**
