Majesty Slayed

Majesty Slayed

A Poem by LazerRays

There once was a girl
 Who lived in a world
 Of abyssal streams so sweet

 The crickets hummed
in the summer sun
The beauty of human greed

Her dress was ragged but shining bright
Under the sunset's evening light
Reflected a universe left behind
Ill winds blow off the war chimes

Long ago her majesty slayed
On a pearl white harbor
While music played
'Tis the soft anthem of suffering
The bells of the sorrowful bringing

Now the girl since then,
Danced once again
With a twinkle of regret in her eye

Such a somber day
That music played

And damned their world to lies

The beauty of our world is murdered daily. The poem left me with sadness. The dancing girl learn to accept less. The world, let her down. Thank you for the amazing poetry and your thoughts.

I agree dear poet. Where I live in the Detroit area. A long drive to the forest now.
From this I get a hint of the destruction that took place at Pearl Harbor and of the sorrow it brought to so many

Ah yes! What a good observation! Thanks for the review :))
This reads like a fairy tale! I love it. I love the soft, poetic feel against the darker story. Well done friend!

Why thank you! :)))
I really liked the word choice in this. I didn't really get the meaning, but you had one and that's all that matters. (Sorry if that sounded rude, it wasn't intended that way). Good job!

You're welcome! :)
I get the title and the purpose here, the theme, but what I like most about this
poem is that it allows us to bring to it what we will...
the destruction of war, maybe the war on our planet...and she has survived war after war...and abuse from the humans, yet she still carries her flag high.

Thank you for the accurate review here jacob. YOure spit on!
Your poem speaks to me of those who are blinded by hero-worship, shiny-objects, possessions, etc. It's as if the way of human kindness & seeing true beauty instead of glam -- this whole way of seeing has become a queen in a ragged shiny dress that's dying. Your conclusion is especially powerful since we live in an age of constantly distorted facts (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
