The Final Wishes Of A Murdered Child

The Final Wishes Of A Murdered Child

A Poem by LazerRays
"

The whole of my emotions poured in a slam poem. The last poem I'll write here.

"
Fists against the glass door, banging
Shrieks through a choked throat, hanging

And you'd think the rope would tighten
From the tension of their fighting
Wrap around like lightning,
Crushing your windpipe, and enlightened

And would she take it?
Grab hold of her child and break it?
I guess so

A runaway with a twisted face,
Born to a systematic race,

Do you remember now?
When you pinned me down-
And I fought like the demon of your darkest dreams
Or so you made me out to be,
I slashed you to hit me,
And you made me,
Raised me,
Gave me praise,
Then cut me down with a bible raised

Did you ever look at what you created
With blood boiling and heart elevated

In nightmares and daydreams,
In silence I still scream,
Its hard to sleep and I can't breathe
Remembering the things I could be

Because I looked at you with love
I adored you
I implore you,
I came back just to warn you

So here's the final wishes of a murdered soul
Growing old in the deepest coals
Collapsing in
Fading within

Blame me,
Degrade me- I don't care
And blade me
But I beg you, don't hate me

Maybe then you'll sing my song
And I'll be the child you wanted
All along.

I'm not a very good reader, this is my first time and I choke up a little bit with emotion.

Hard, honest and strong words shared dear Saree.
"Blame me,
Degrade me- I don't care
And blade me
But I beg you, don't hate me"
The above lines. Dig deep into the reader. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry and your thoughts.

I have a dear friend...somehow she turned out so sweet and caring...but this poem sounds very much like her childhood.

Thank you again, and I like to think that the child in this is sweet and caring too...
when the heart and soul are murdered, the brain says...let's just end it.
This is powerful...a song of the slain soul....
I find your work intriguing...and am sorry to see you leave WC Saree...

Hello, Sarah! :)
This is the first of your poems that ive read, and its your last posting here. That is ironic and disappointing. The wc will miss you. I'll have to Google what slam poetry is. This poem seemed a vicious expression. I enjoyed it. Thank you for sharing.

The rhythm and rhyming reminded me somehow of "The Raven." The subject matter, though, is even darker than that masterpiece. I don't know if we are hearing the words of an actual dead child or those of a child whose soul has been murdered. The picture that emerges is one of a rigidly religious parent who consistently battered the child's self esteem while also withholding desperately needed love. The child may be an adult now, but the experiences of the past continue continue to cause pain. Even now, the child pleads for, if not love, at least not to be hated. Very, very sad piece here.
