Rights? Freedom? Fairness? Not in this courtroom on this day

Rights? Freedom? Fairness? Not in this courtroom on this day

A Poem by Swoo
"

The only way I could sleep -better out than in (a bit bitter when I read it back :p)

"
Insignificance, frustration, and utter dismay
Were my feelings after court today
All day we waited for a verdict reached
Before proceedings began
Would it really have been so wrong
To give custody to 'that man'?
He has broken the law,
been to prison and smokes cannabis too
There is nothing about his life
That you could compare to you
And that is your problem
(More so his!)
He could never be deemed
By you to 'fit'
He does not fit your system
Your ideal
from him, his rights as a father
You steal
He tried to tell you of the love
that he had
The only laws he had ever broken
Were bad
That nothing he had ever done
Or said
Should stop him from providing his son
A bed
Yet you made your decision based on his past
And your strategy plan
On your assumptions, prejudice, ignorance
A sham!

This is constructed so well. And I agree that no one should be judged without a context that takes time, place and environment into consideration.
