Special Party

Special Party

A Poem by sasha

Special Party

You will be my special guest, darlin’

In my special home. Have you got

A special suit for special occasions?

I’m cooking something special for you,

You do expect special treatment and

I will be able to offer you love and security.

You will be treated respectfully, darlin’,

We will go for a walk then have our dinner,

My fish special will be smoked salmon

in a lemon-cream sauce with anise vodka.

Everything will be done in good taste

Will you ask me a special favor, darlin’?

You will have a long hot bath every evening.

Do you like rose flavor, lavender or vanilla?

Can you imagine me as a nanny? a mermaid?

You will hear me singing to you, darlin’.

I promise it will be really an exciting party.

Give me five minutes to change out of

My work clothes. Let’s dance, shall we?

But why, why do I feel like crying a lot,

And this cup just fell apart in my hands.

Chris, thank you for stopping by and reading. Sasha
Hi Jacob, I am very thankful for your review. I greatly appreciate you giving me some feedback on the poem. I utilized some literary devices (repetition of the word, tried setting mood and tone of the poem by describing a situation in its real consequences) and you like them. Yes, we sometimes like to substitute oil for butter in a recipe we follow for 'special' wholemeal bread :)). I would keep the table amused if we sat around the table and enjoyed smoked salmon in a lemon-cream sauce with anise vodka))
Have a nice day, Jacob.

this becomes so sad when we find out that the special guest will not be able to attend...

i feel this is someone who has temporarily been in denial that a loved one has passed on...

i like the almost overuse of "special" and then how it retreats from the piece.

the meal sounded so good, i almost knocked on your door and asked if a substitute would be okay.

really strong stuff here sasha.
