Memory

Memory

A Poem by Miss Shea

Can I be your memory

For a moment in time

Remembered only as a dream,

Some non-existent musing

Be a part of you that makes you wonder

If I was ever real...

Or If I was only a dream

To be forgotten the instant you open your eyes

And let me fade as reality sets in

Becoming only a tattoo scribbled

On your memory in vain

As if etched within clear water

And trickling away as if never there...

Your poem is breathaking and simple but really deep. It really describes memory, and everyone can identify because we all understand the true nature of memory. My favorite lines are "Be a part of you that makes you wonder/If I was ever real..." because everyone understands that thin line between reality and fantasy that occurs during dreams and daydreams. I love this poem, it's really beautiful and pure. Stellar word choice and precision of language.
