Giving Up Freedom

Giving Up Freedom

A Poem by Miss Shea

They've taken our rights

our freedom and hope

they've cornered us

captured our will to struggle

to fight for what's right

they've turned us into drones

with no hope for today

or tomorrow

covered our eyes

blinded us from their wrongs

silenced our cries

left us alone in our own darkness

locked in without an escape

taught us to play their game

and follow their rules

pushing the limits closer

stepping on our toes

but we still take it

with our heads bowed

our lips closed

afraid of what might happen

if we were to speak up

shout out

not daring to push back

take back what they've stolen

because we've learned

our attempts are useless

so we've given up...

and gave our freedom to them...

I Love this poem because talks about way people aren't standing up for real freedom of speech, and that we should do someting to end the war in iraq, and also protest to decrimnize weed because they get to smoke all the weed they want, and they aresst other people 4 smoking bud that's taking away are freedom. So we should protest.

Great poem. I am a Vietnam Veteran and I can promise you the only way they will take my freedom is over my dead body. I say to them all (Bring it on) Nice write.

Interesting statement here. I think this is a poem that accurately reflects the current times. If future generations were to read this, they would no doubt be able to understand what this time period was, and what it was like. Well done!

How better could you decribe the situation in which we now stand.

Nice Work
