Mottephobia

Mottephobia

A Poem by Nicole
"

Mottephobia- the fear of moths So apparently this is a real phobia? I can't even begin to explain it. They're just so absolutely horrifyingly frightening. I'd rather fight a person than a moth...

"

...

Most nightmares walk on heavy feet,

A thump thump thump

To your heart’s beat.

They slither still upon the floor,

Snatching shadows

From behind closed doors.

But my nightmare stands on leather wings,

And will come only after

The heavens sing.

Drawn to the window by a shimmering light,

This devil’s hallow

Is the night.

Oh my ears are plugged and my eyes are shut,

I cannot scream.

I feel my blood,

Beating faster than your pattering device.

Upon the glass prison,

My sweat holds ice.

I feel the throb as you smack the side,

I look away,

And try not to cry.

The chills upon my back run cold,

You are the spades,

And to your match I fold.

Oh tormenter, you afflict me,

And assault my mental bind,

With nightmares only you can carry,

You and your wicked kind.

...

I knew a girl who was petrified of moths--petrified... One time we were hanging out and one appeared and flew up on her nose. She went bat s**t, flinging her fist around, spinning, and punched me in the eye. The moth got away.
