First collision

First collision

A Poem by Michelle N. H.

At first I didn't catch your name

I felt one with the air

Surrounding us

Drawn to follow its direction

I noticed my dress

And the scent from my neck

Sweetened by summer wind

Turning towards you

I couldn't reject your hand

Pale and unsteady as it was

And you couldn't stand still

Eager to show me the world

Through turbid eyes

An individual perspective

That was yours

And the opposite of mine

Time would have me learn

That my heart is a cherry blossom

Words of warmth grew flowers

On branches that wrapped themselves

Around your body

Around your mind

Absorbing you in pieces

Illuminating every corner

Of your being

And as you entered me

For the first time

Through doors guarded with care

There was an alignment

We met in the middle

Of everything

As our worlds collided

Flesh upon flesh

Trembling waves

Tasting meat

Tasting of sweat

We became a solitary force

A combustion of energy

Devouring all

An inferno

Dripping blood

With an internal disgust

That burned us hollow

Leaving flowers to wither

And a part of us

To die

Still

As the sun grew dimmer

With each day passing through

We held on to nothing

With persistence

Not willing to let go

Although nothing

Was all we were

A lie disguised as true

I was waiting for a man

I never knew

The. word odor can be substituted with the word scent . Like the movie Scent of a Woman . Please pardon my audacity to critique your piece . I am in no place to make correction given your talent and lofty caliber .

This is amazing profound poem..and one of my favorite here. It`s so real, full of sorrow and of many mixed emotions, and love. It expresses in wonderful way the act of love and closeness, and most of all the feeling of touching the soul, in the moment of real touch. Here the time resolves into little moments, which disappear slowly in fog of life, and distance, the illusions, the lie, makes love to fall apart. Familiar feeling for everyone who was once in love. I like these verses:

Still
As the sun grew dimmer
With each day passing through
We held on to nothing
With persistence
Not willing to let go

This poem captivated me from beginning to the end like a rising wave to collide with a final crash as the realisation set in. I absolutely adore this!

Gosh.. What a lovely comment. Thank you for that :)
This is so real, so intense sweet friend, it brings me to another vision, a vision of your mind, a brief vacation, maybe.... I wandered here, sniffed, felt it, all, and touched through your words, and it's so deeply romantically gothic, dark, so beautiful totally my kind of thing... the ending gives me chills, because I've been there myself.... wow, what a write you give me, (us) Michelle, so stunning.... I'm favoring this.
