Observations in nature

Observations in nature

A Poem by Satori

A feather

Drifting in the wind

Has no weight.

Wings

Heavy with pollen

Can’t fly straight.

A mushroom grows on a tree.

You’ll never see it

Tucked safe

In the shadow of the elm.

It lives

In fetid solitude.

This is beautiful, made all the more so because nature is beautiful partly because of what could be considered ugly. A single feather, pollen-laden wings, fungus, all of these things on their own may not be necessarily attractive but when placed in a larger picture they become pieces of a gorgeous whole.

Just like with people, perhaps the most beautiful ugliness is that which we cannot see. That is what I am getting.

I really enjoyed the description of the mushroom, "...fetid solitude." Wonderful.

The subtle peace that makes its way amid all the noises. My own interpretation on this poem.
