A Poem by Trisha Clark

time

Take your time

watch it go

just know--

you'll never

make it home

home

cause home's a person

not a place

it's that name

you can't erase

erase

erase those feelings

deep inside

those white elephants

you hide

hide

hide the bottle

and the pills

and the memories

they can't kill

kill

kill the guilt

and the shame

and the burden

of the blame

blame

blame the place

or the year

blame yourself--

you caused your fear

fear

but fear that's realized

is gone

cause now,

what else could go wrong?

Nice job. It flows very well. I think it's time for me to read it again! lol. I'd put some things you could work on in here but I really can't think of any. Keep up the great work!

It has nice flow, it's very ambiguous. I like the:

Kill the guilt
and the shame
and the burden
of the blame

Good work Trisha.

I like the repetition in this...the meter and rhythm is catchy as hell. Sounds like it could be an Alice in Chains lyric. Very well done. I love the dark theme, the hopelessness in this.

"... the emptiness they'd kill" - i like that part... much of my life was spent consuming some sort of substance to "hide" my sorrows... Its kind of depressing when you think about how many within society are still empty... some may never learn.. some do not want to learn.. its reality.. all we can ever do is hope for a better tomorrow... "There is no hope for the hopeless for they are helpless, Pity serves no purpose!" - J.B.
