I lied

A poem about two lovers.

I told you

I would never

Ever harm you

I told you

I needed you

And I did

 

But when time came

You changed

We both changed

You became more

Of the woman I feared

You would become

 

And I said

I would give you

Anything

You smiled

Your old lovely smile

I melted

 

Yet when I tried

To give you things

You snapped and

Left me cold and lonely

It wasn’t good enough

Not for you

 

Two golden rings

A silver necklace

Flowers and bracelets

That is what

I wanted to give you

It wasn’t good enough

It never was

 

You lied

When you said

We would always be together

And I lied

When I said

I hated you

love is torturous

i love your poem, because i think it really shows the problems some people face. when you love someone but they don't love you back. the feeling of not being good enough/not doing enough sucks but unfortunately there's no way to escape those feelings. beautiful poem.
