Obscura

Obscura

A Poem by Seriana

Obscura

Fair Lady strolls the shore alone,

gentle footfalls as the waters lap at her feet,

purposeful impressions left,

and fade…

She moves on in languid descent,

the will not of her own,

but that of the darkness as it rises to meet the day.

Fair lady dances to the melody of a bird-mocking,

Moving as one,

with thickets of reeds and song,

She glances sky height through the grey of mourn,

smiles through rays of misty dust,

in disinclined wonderment…

Fair lady wanders the shores alone,

in desperate despair and decline…

The scene is beautiful and like such a mysterious night sky! As others have said, it really transports you there, it really feels like you have just traveled there and I love that. The wording is beautiful, too. My favorite part is how it feels as if she's really looking for something... and it even leaves a bit of a creepy atmosphere in the wake of its beauty.

Love everything about this poem. Your fair lady certainly attracted my attention. I watched her dancing in her despair and decline along the shore and pondered on her sadness. I wondered what had led to this situation. Your poetic expression is wonderful and imagery as clear as clear can be. Beautiful description. Well done Seriana.

What a beautiful movement of words... of life... it feels so fresh and new in the first lines... this amazing world unveiled... peaceful solitude of the sea... and then it moves into the darkness... a mist... a lonely place that seems to swallow her... aching in the wonder here.

whoa! nice work setting, scene and movement .. i am with her .. your poem puts me there .. can smell that "misty dust" ... and the reeds and thickets .. i hear them clacking in the breeze .. this inspires my imagination ... there is a whole world of things and happenstance that may have brought your "Fair Lady" to such a place .. well done .. worthwhile poem for me!
