MY PAINTINGS

MY PAINTINGS

A Poem by Shabeeh Haider

My paintings, my poems, my sculpture, my art,

I paint you on canvas and hide you in heart.

I draw you on paper and write you in verse,

The day I don’t dream you, that day is a curse.

The rose in my garden was covered with dew,

Or was it the rain that was falling on you.

Your hair on your face can turn day into night,

The way the black clouds hide the sun and its light.

To place you in verses, I find it so tough,

To write on your beauty words aren’t enough.

I paint you in colors and write you in ink,

But that says a fraction of all that I think.

It would be a huge honor to be thought of this way by anyone. I love the way you combine the various mediums of artistic endeavor we may use to try to express all that we're feeling inside. I love the way your words are selected for maximum imagery, such that it's like a combination poem & word painting. But the most impactful lines are the last two. It's expressed in a simple, clear way, but it's so very true-to-life for most of us. Just love those last 2 lines!

"MY PAINTINGS'
Shabeeh Haider,
Surly the wonder of the total complexities of a loved one cannot be totally displayed within words. I think wonder is the right word for this beauteous and wondrous reality. To know and care for another and be given the privilege is so lovely. This poem reminded me of the joy of love's blessing.

Expression is the muse for all arts this truly represents a artist feeling stunted yet if all the words could be captured there would be no more room for new artists
