Flashbacks

A Poem by Shadows Ember

I don't understand these feelings.

I love you

Yet these flashbacks tell a different tale,
not ours.

The siren's sweet words being whispered in my ear,
reminding me of our dance together.

Making my heart and body,
long,
need,
to be embraced by the forces of possession.

His words make my heartbeat cease in a strange way.

With every step forward the siren takes,
there is another step back from you.

So who do I listen to?

I cannot listen to myself,
for the siren has captivating words that I become possessed by.

So please, my dear, save me now before it is too late....
