Drowning

Drowning

A Poem by Shairan

The idea of drowning is terrifying ,
your muscles failing,
your lungs failing to provide the oxygen,
your mind going numb
then you feel nothing.
Now imagine yourself drowning.
You trying to breathe,
clawing around your surrounding
 until you feel nothing.
Imagine the water around you is grief.
A wave of water feels like a sharp claw digging into your chest.
Imagine trying to fight back
but you are caged.
You are suffocating, fighting to breathe,
to move your limbs, trying to scream,
but your voice dies in your throat.
You trying to reach out to something
but there's only voidness.

There IS a "darkness" you did describe... thoughtfully.
