I Am What You Are

I Am What You Are

A Poem by Shane Rendon

You are the light

and I am the moth
praying not to land on a zapper
knowing what might happen

You are the lake
and I am a fish in the river
staring up at the dam
believing in the impossibe

You are the moon
and I am a child
gazing into the night sky
dreaming of one day being an astronaut

I am a metal
and you are a champion
clinging to your prize
hoping never to lose the gold

I am rock n roll
and you are the star
holding your place
becoming a legend

I am you
and you are me
Holding fast to eachother
knowing we can hold on to this feeling forever

Similarities of life that were penned (typed) so well. I liked the contrasts, and the feeling of oneness that flowed throughout the work. Nicely done...Bravo!

I like what you have done here, it is an excellent use of simile. I especially like the second stanza, it really makes one think. Some who are not so familiar with the outdoors might be lost a bit. If that is the case you could try a tweak on it to point out the lake - river connection more directly, but I am putting the cart before the horse. The turn you use in showing dependency is really good, it gives the work a wonderful balance.

Great job!
