A Poem by Shane-Ashley
"

This poem is a little more personal, i wrote it in my cousin's point of veiw.

"
I see you in a different light
When you do what you do, i have to fight.
I have to fight back the tears,
As i watch you finish all your beers.
Why can't you just stop, and quit our pain
You dont have to drink! you can stop the chain!
I dont want you to leave again!
You used to be my friend!
You were my dad, the only one i had left!
You used to be funny, and we laughed.
Our voices our gone, so what do we do?
We try to make you different, we still love you!
Cant you see that? Can you see the pain you have caused?
Next time you pick a drink up, PLEASE daddy, just pause!
Think, please dear god think!
Or we'll be gone again in a blink.
Please change, for you, and for us.
But dont be in a rush.
Do it right, do it fair
that way, tonight, our hearts dont tear.

Author's Note

Shane-Ashley
This is personal for me, for my cousin(in which the pov is written). Her mom died when she was young, and her and her little brother have been in foster care because of her dad being an alcoholic, and dangerous to them.

now, years later, she is 14, her dad is out of jail, and they are all living together again.
