The Moment Love Died

A life so perfect at the end of a rainbow,
after the storms attempted their toll,
Her soul, mind and body were his solely,
Then for one moment, he let her go.

She knew, and yet the proud warrior from within,
Came to the rescue, donning the amour,
drawing the sharpest sword,
feeble attempts to fight an enemy she herself unknowingly
created, an enemy that drew him away,
enticing him with charms long
forgotten...hers, mimicked and sweetened without the
scars of living...still virginal...
he walked through a familiar gate,
into innocent arms of long forgotten passion....
Standing, watching them in the rain that day,
she drew her most
deadly sword. The ambush... such a surprise...
No he was not
lost, yet the subtle betrayal already hardened her heart
.....a battle never to be won ensued,
never to be fought with her once
untarnished spirit...although the onslaught
one of the most brutal;
flesh bruised, souls scarred, wings scorched,
eyes unshielded, true selves revealed.

Exhausted, each falls to the ground...
losses tallied, and yet, they continue on...
