Sleepless Night

Inspired By My Contest...

Just another sleepless night

With thoughts of you running through my mind

Emotions (like a hurricane) swirl inside

On yet another sleepless night

 

Just another wakeful hour

Who knew your love had such power

To wilt my soul like a week old flower

And cause so many wakeful hours

 

Toss and turn there is no sleep

When the cut on your heart runs so deep

Who knew you would cause me (so much) to bleed

And toss and turn with no sleep

 

Just another sleepless night

I know you tried to make it right

But I've given up fighting that fight

Rather live with a sleepless night

 

Just another wakeful hour

Rather that than the taste so sour

Of the love from which I now cower

I'll take another wakeful hour

 

Toss and turn there is no sleep

No rest from the pain which I now keep

Had I known the cost would be so steep

I'd still toss and turn with no sleep

 

Just another sleepless night

I'll take the pain and suffer my plight

Because memories of you holding me tight

Are worth another sleepless night.

stanza 5 line 2 mispelled word.....

I liked this, it had good flow and carried the theme well of one who would suffer with fond memories rather then be at peace and sleep well.
