Lost

Lost

A Poem by Shelly Braen

Find me screaming in dark; it all falls on deaf ears. The echoes carry through the halls of this dark manor. I wear a dress of satin despair, sequins of confusion, adorned in a silver choker of loneliness, and rubies of panic, reflecting screams of bloody murder. Cowering on the cold stone, in the basement of a mind’s deepest secret. Lost in one of my own mansions.

Fear cripples the lost, and surely I am in the middle of no where. I stand in an ocean of familiar faces, yet strangers’ hearts beat from within. I am drowning. I choke on the waves of bitter indifference. Not a pair of seeing eyes to find me failing to the machine. I close down. Do you hear the sounds of the walls rising? The locks clicking intricately into place? Someone stop me.
