Mortalia

Mortalia

A Poem by Shelly Braen

Smoke in my fingers,

Oh mortality,

Is this life,

Or death in reverberation?

What will my words say,

When I am gone?

Will there be day,

Or everlasting night?

Watch my comrades,

Falling at will,

Thunder grounds me,

And I stand,

Still,

As the storm brews,

As the skies bloody,

As the winds shudder,

Sing,

Solemn choir,

Sing,

I never will forget,

I can not move,

Shaken,

But frozen,

No bravery in sight,

But force of fear,

I am still.
