my time is up being a man

I have lived my life the best I could
growing up in this sequence of events
the journey for my long term goals
in the pictures beside me
all the rocks I glazed off of while flowing in this stream
fighting the current
finding anything along the way just to keep my head up

you were my life boat
anytime lighting hit my tree you sprouted life the seeds of a new path

I miss your smile

Why did he take you before I?

getting out of bed
so empty and cold
staring in the bathroom mirror
eating stale toast
television on the news
this was worth while

when I had you...

maybe I will call our son
hearing the grand kids ruckus will bring me joy
five minutes of short lived smile
just to hear "goodbye"
