Have we won?

Have we won?

A Poem by Sami Vish

I know this is dumb
You’re not coming home
So why do I feel like I won?
Why am I excited with anticipation
When I know disappointment is impending?

I thought I didn’t care
Surprised by this gush of emotions
Over flowing like a waterfall
Cascading and winding threw my scars
Deepening their imprint on my heart

I allowed myself to get caught up for a moment
But why? Are you really what I want?
You’ve had so much growth, but is it enough?
You said you loved us
I said we do too
But we didn’t mean it like that, right?

Oh I hate this
I hate all the drama
Never thought I would
I like the attention
But I can’t stomach the clean up
So I cut myself off completely

Have we won you
Or must we watch you fail all over again?
