Our Hero

Our Hero

A Poem by Siddartha Beth Pierce
"

For my dear friend from high school and his amazing transformation - Greg Gallagher!

"
I knew you when
you were so thin
from drugs embrace
your pimpled face
has now turned to
angelic bliss.

I knew you when
you were so thin
in high school days
passed in a haze
a terrible mess
we must confess.

So you have
found God's grace
shining in your
beautiful eyes
and perfect face
you are anew
it is true.

As an NA sponsor
you help those
that chose
to unburden themselves
from the devil's grip
are now equipt
with the Truth of Love,
Beauty, Serenity and You
are an amazing Man
that has run
the gambit
yet strived
survived
to live on in
infamy
for those less fortunate.

Your work is strong
profound
unabounding
You are an inspiration
to all of those around
as the sound
of your soulful words
rebound
we shall forever thank you
my dear Greg Gallagher
you are a Hero.

What a wonderful tribute to a survivor and mentor to those suffering the same affliction. A true hero.

Those that have seen hell are certainly the best ones to teach how to avoid it... what a wonderful dedication to your friend... most certainly a unsung hero.

I like this a lot. Perhaps we should have more poetry like this, it shows a better side of the world.
