His Last Moments

His Last Moments

A Poem by Siddartha Beth Pierce

Closed up in the car

you later gave me-

attempting to inhale

the fumes

yet you gave in

with your intentions-

opened the door

welcomed fresh air once more.

An attempt at something

I could not understand

yet you lived on

we were as One

for many years

together.

Then we parted ways

on friendly terms

speaking freely

from time to time.

You were engaged

to be married

happy once again it seemed

until the call came.

July, was your demise

taken by your own hands

this time for eternity

just like your grandfather

before you.

May you both

lay at rest

in peace and harmony-

why such things occur

I can not say

yet I will miss you anyway.

Sleep well

my dear friend.

The true feelings of your heart came outside into the forms of deepest write. The starting was started with the stunning moments but the ending comes ended with the 'Rest/Relax' of those moments. The moments which were alive at starting become 'Static' at the end of the piece. This poem's written with the true heart. Emotions're well poured into the poem as well, the mixture of love, life and emotions's immensely mixturized with the ocean of words. Flow's good.

Keep on!

Beautiful testament to him. I found my mother at the ripe old age of fifteen. Poetry continues to be my therapy.

Heartfelt and sad that another life has been lost to this dreadful disease...Thank you Sid, for writing it, I know it was difficult to write.

I believe that sometimes poetry is there for speaking to the departed. Your words said first to help you, have helped others too I would imagine.

Wow. This was poignant. I wasn't sure where it was going; the revelation took me by surprise. I'm not sure what you were saying with everything in here, but the emotion was clear.

Life and death are the two immutable truths of this world. Just like the former which we embrace wholeheartedly we have to accept the other as well, however reluctantly. As you rightly said it is impossible to comprehend or understand its reasons or its choices but there is only so much that is within the realm of human understanding. A bittersweet poem Beth and one that is both thoughtful as well as profound.
