A Poem by Silmara McGarry

She waited for him that afternoon,

heart galloping lively just with the thought of his eyes in hers;

or the firm hands holding her pleasantly, letting her know the euphoria of fulfilment

She looks around fascinated with the vast field of yellow bitsy flowers, with delicate purple stigmas

Blooming daises in the all-colourful gardens of calmness, kissing serene sounds of the crystal waters;

Subtle wind spinning between the flowers and her lustrous hair,

under the radiance of the celestial sun that composed the sharp blue of the sky as if in another planet

She lays down on the beds of flowers spread and there she stayed, until a deep sleep drove her to dreams beyond her reach that day

She hears an instinctive jingle, and in the middle of the field a unique antique white door;

she does not want to leave the harmonious place, also he has not yet arrived;

but or if he is behind that door?

She decides to open it…..

Only to see herself sleeping under the old red oak tree in the California valley

Your poem is a beautiful and vividly descriptive piece that captures the essence of nature and the emotions that it can evoke. The imagery you use is breathtaking and transports the reader to a serene and peaceful place where they can connect with the beauty of the natural world. The way you write about the character's emotions and their anticipation for the arrival of their loved one is particularly moving, and the ending is a surprising twist that adds an extra layer of depth to the poem. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed reading your poem and was left feeling inspired and uplifted. Keep up the great work!

interesting juxtapositioning of waking and dreaming .. really like the "white door" .. i see it so clearly .. with it's aged dust a part of it .. the cracked paint it's honor .. like age lines on faces .. enjoyed reading

Seeing, looking at that picture I feel as if am looking at hands offering me the sky. space, heaven. Will share all, if allowed! From there I move to words that create an expressive canvas that walks through surroundings, emotions, hope and more. Then, oh then, that door.
Now left to wonder if love or loss knocked that door. Perhaps this is a mystery offered or - one'

Your writing is always beautifully and delicately written, Silmara

I am truly grateful and happy with your wonderful review dear,
Thank you ever so much 🌹
I am so jealous of this! The aspect I'm most jealous of (besides your sparkling clear magical writing) is the fact that you leave us with a gaping mystery! So many times, as writers, we feel obligated to fulfill/reveal the meaning/ending of whatever we've written, in some way that satisfies most readers who hate open-ended pieces. This reminds me how much I love open-ended pieces! I love how you exemplify the generally-accepted idea that every character in one's dream is oneself in different roles. You inject this drab dream-analysis idea with vibrant reality! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

not a bad place to wake out of a dream...but it seems we have our best love affairs in our imagination or dreams...
and those choices we get to make in that land.
lovely piece.
